Yes, and your hot water too! In Austria, where wood pellets have been commonly used for decades, 86% of all new home construction is equipped with a central heating wood pellet furnace. These are robust systems with automatic controls, zone heating and thermostats just like any other central heating system. Periodic maintenance is less frequent than with a pellet stove, but more frequent than with a fossil fuel furnace. Annual service would typically be twice each year, and ash removal once or twice monthly depending on the amount and quality of the wood pellet fuel you are using. These systems, if properly installed and using premium quality pellets, will operate as trouble free as any other central heating system.
