That depends on what you are currently using to heat your home. If you heat with cord wood which you harvest on your own land and cut and split yourself, of course this is cheaper, perhaps, until you consider the value of your time! If you buy a cord of wood, it is still slightly cheaper than wood pellets, but not by a lot. Heating with almost any other fuel is more expensive, most of the time. When oil, natural gas, or propane hit their lowest prices it might be close to or slightly less expensive than heating with wood pellets, but 95% of the time in the last 10 years wood pellets are much less expensive than heating with any fossil fuel.
